Abuohia Assemblyman, Edward Adu, Leads Massive Evacuation Exercise Against Trading On Pavements

The Assemblymember for Abuohia Electoral Area in the Suame Municipality, Honourable Edward Adu Bobi, has led an exercise to evacuate scores of persons who ply their trade along the shoulders of the Kronum-Abuohim road and its pavement stretch to improve vehicular and pedestrian movement.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Monday 13th October 2025, he noted with concern that the indiscriminate disposal of waste into the drains creates a lot of inconveniences for road users during rainfall.
In view of this, he noted that the Municipal Chief Executive for Suame, Honourable Frank Owusu Ansah, has allocated a space behind the Abuohia market to accommodate all the affected traders.
Describing the situation as worrying, he hinted that the assembly would continue to carry out the evacuation exercise and perpetually ban all forms of trading on the pavement and along the shoulders of the road.
Meanwhile, the Coordinator responsible for machines meant for the District Road Improvement Programme DRIP, in the Suame Municipality, Alhaji Mohammed Alhassan, has debunked assertions that the assembly does not use the machines for their intended purposes.
He explained that once an assemblymember places request for the undertaking of a community project, the assembly releases the machines and fuels them.
He noted that in respect of the ongoing evacuation exercise, the machines are being used to dislodge all the filth clogged in the drains.
