Dormaa Gyaasehene advocates for dual carriage on the Dormaa Ahenkro to Sunyani road for safe driving

The Gyaasehene of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Barima Buabasa Oppong Yaw Ababio, has formally requested the government’s intervention in constructing a dual carriageway along the critical stretch of the Dormaa Ahenkro to Sunyani road, with the aim of decreasing the incidence of accidents on this route.

He highlighted that road safety has been a significant concern in recent years due to the persistent loss of lives resulting from road accidents. Therefore, it is imperative to dualize the Dormaa-Sunyani road, given its high traffic volume, to enhance the safety of all travelers.

Barima Buabasa Oppong Yaw Ababio directed this appeal to the CEO of the DVLA, Mr. Julius Neequay Kotey, requesting him to convey it to the Honorable Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza during the commissioning of the Dormaa Ahenkro office of the DVLA earlier last week.

He emphasized that transforming the existing road into a dual carriageway is crucial to significantly reducing the risk of accidents and providing a safer driving experience for motorists.

Additionally, this upgrade will accommodate the growing volume of traffic, thereby facilitating smoother and more efficient transportation between Dormaa Ahenkro and Sunyani, which are vital centers of commerce and daily activities.

Barima Buabasa Oppong Yaw Ababio again advocated for the establishment of a driving school in Dormaa Ahenkro to enhance the teaching of safe driving practices.

He emphasized that Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Council has made land available in Dormaa Ahenkro for the government or any interested party willing to establish such an institution.
