Christian Service University (CSU) has marked its golden jubilee celebrations by extending a helping hand to the Edwenase Cheshire Home in the Kwadaso Municipality. The university donated food items and essentials worth thousands of Ghana cedis to support the residents.
The donation included bags of rice, gari, maize, beans, sugar, soap, and groundnut paste. These basic but vital supplies will go a long way in easing the daily living needs of the residents.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of CSU, Dr. Stephen Banahene, emphasized that the donation reflects the institution’s core values of service, compassion, and community impact.
“Our faith requires us to connect with society and those in need,” he said. Dr. Banahene highlighted CSU’s 50-year commitment to merging academic excellence with social responsibility.
The Manageress of the Home, Mrs. Harriet Osei Wusu, received the donation with deep gratitude and commended CSU for remembering the vulnerable.
However, she appealed for further support, particularly vocational equipment and renovations, to give residents a chance at self-reliance and better living conditions.
The Edwenase Cheshire Home, which caters to persons with disabilities, relies heavily on donations and public goodwill to sustain its operations. CSU’s intervention comes as a significant relief and highlights the ongoing needs of the residents.
Mrs. Wusu’s appeal serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting vulnerable communities. Individuals, philanthropists, and government agencies are encouraged to lend a helping hand to the Edwenase Cheshire Home.
The donation is a testament to CSU’s commitment to making a positive impact in the community. As the university celebrates its 50th anniversary, its legacy of academic excellence and social responsibility continues to inspire and touch lives.
