Jamestown’s New Queen Mother Prioritizes Education for Young Girls

In a vibrant ceremony steeped in tradition and culture, Mrs. Alberta Addo has been installed as the new Paramount Queen Mother for James Town Ngleshie Alata, taking the stool name Naa Affipong IV.
The installation ceremony, held on August 17, 2025, was attended by chiefs, elders, queen mothers, and members of the Ngleshie Alata community.
Naa Affipong IV has pledged to dedicate her reign to championing girl-child education, emphasizing its importance in community development.
She believes that empowering young girls with knowledge and practical skills will help curb rising cases of teenage pregnancy in the area.
The Queen Mother encourages parents and guardians to prioritize their daughters’ education, noting that an educated girl can transform not only her family but the larger community.
Naa Affipong IV aims to equip young girls with skills necessary for leadership roles and responsible living.
The Chief of Ngleshie Alata Lafa Barima, Nii Ayi Okoforobour I, has urged the government to support the Queen Mother and the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council in their mission to bring lasting peace and development to James Town.¹
The Queen Mother’s initiative aligns with the Ghana Education Service’s objectives to promote girl-child education and reduce dropout rates.
