Government urged to include Private Schools with Educational Policies

The Head Teacher of Steadfast Academy (Obuasi), Mr. Joshua Opoku Apraku, has appealed to the government to implement educational policies that cater to the needs of private schools across the country.

Speaking at the school’s 22nd Annual Graduation Ceremony on Friday, June 27, Mr. Apraku emphasized the disparity in the quality of textbooks used in public and private schools, noting that those provided to public schools are often more comprehensive and better authored.

“The kind of textbooks used in public schools are carefully written by well-trained authors, unlike those distributed to many private schools,” he stated.

He further proposed that the government consider posting graduate teachers from colleges of education to private schools as part of national efforts to uplift the overall standard of education.

The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of Lord Kumi, a BECE graduate and the former head boy, who was named the overall best student.

In a media engagement, Kumi attributed his academic success to the dedication and mentorship of his teachers.

“My teachers played a crucial role in shaping my performance,” he said, urging his fellow students to remain committed and inspired.

He also cited the late renowned Ghanaian physicist, Professor Francis Allotey, as a major source of motivation in his academic journey.

“There was once a professor called Francis Allotey who was very brilliant; his status motivated me to be like him,” he told the media.

The event was attended by staff, parents, and invited guests who commended the school’s efforts in nurturing academic excellence and discipline over the years.
