Birim Central Municipality Cracks Down on Littering

The Municipal Chief Executive of Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern Region, Hon. Solomon Brako Kusi, has pledged to collaborate with the sanitation unit and judiciary to penalize individuals who indiscriminately dispose of waste in the municipality.

Speaking to the media after launching the “Poyo’s Sanitation Project” with a clean-up exercise at Kumasi Station in Akyem Oda, the MCE noted that Birim Central Municipality has the highest number of typhoid fever cases in the region and aims to address this issue.

The primary objective of the project is to promote environmental cleanliness, community responsibility, and teamwork among residents.

The MCE emphasized that the municipality was once the cleanest in the Eastern Region and plans to restore it to that status.

He urged residents to maintain cleanliness in their businesses and surroundings, warning that those who litter will face penalties to serve as a deterrent.

The clean-up exercise was successful in raising environmental awareness and fostering community involvement.

The MCE plans to organize more clean-ups in the coming weeks to promote good sanitation practices.

The CEO of Asomdweemba Phones, who participated in the clean-up, advised residents to join hands in keeping their environment clean.

He acknowledged that everyone shares the blame for the current state of the environment and emphasized the need for collective action.
