A horrifying incident occurred at Volta Bar New Nkusukum—Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region, where a man believed to be in his 30s sustained life-threatening injuries following the explosion of a vulcanizer machine.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim, identified as Brother Richard, approximately 35 years old, was inflating a tyre when the machine suddenly exploded.
The force of the blast caused multiple injuries, including the gruesome exposure of his intestines, leaving many eyewitnesses in shock.
Richard was immediately rushed to the Roman Hospital in Mankessim for emergency care.
Due to the severity of his condition, he was later referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Several other individuals who sustained minor injuries during the incident were also taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Maame Isha, an eyewitness who was present at the scene, recounted the terrifying moment in an interview with the Media, she explained how it came about.
Isaac Opoku, a shop owner whose store is located near the accident scene, also expressed his shock and described how the incident unfolded.
Other witnesses shared similar accounts and urged vulcanizers to regularly inspect their equipment to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
As of now, authorities have not released an official statement, and investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
