The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has demanded the immediate interdiction of Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, over allegations of violating the code of conduct for government appointees.
NPP National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye cited a video showing Gyamfi dealing in foreign exchange without authorization, which he claims breaches several laws.
Alleged Breaches include Foreign Exchange Act (Act 723), Anti-Money Laundering Act and Code of conduct introduced by President John Dramani Mahama
Nana Boakye questioned why Gyamfi should be treated differently from former Minister Cecilia Dapaah, who resigned over a scandal involving stolen funds.
The NPP is urging President Mahama to take swift action and interdict Gyamfi, emphasizing that failure to do so would undermine the President’s code of conduct initiative.
The Bank of Ghana’s warnings against unauthorized foreign exchange dealings were also highlighted, with Nana Boakye stressing that Gyamfi’s actions are unacceptable.
The NPP’s call for action underscores the need for accountability and adherence to the law among government appointees.
