Insurance Patronage in Ghana Plummets to Less Than 1 Percent

The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has sounded the alarm on the alarmingly low patronage of insurance in Ghana, with less than 1% of the population utilizing insurance services.
According to Agent Duke, a principal insurance officer at NIC, misconceptions about insurance are a major contributor to this trend.
Speaking in an interview, Agent Duke expressed concern about the potential negative impact of low insurance patronage on businesses and properties in the event of disasters.
He urged Ghanaians to have confidence in insurance services, emphasizing their importance in providing a safety net during uncertain times.
To address this issue, Agent Duke called for increased public education and sensitization on insurance policies.
By raising awareness and understanding of insurance benefits, NIC hopes to boost patronage and encourage more Ghanaians to protect their assets and livelihoods.
