
The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Stephen Amoah – affectionately known as Stika – has urged students of the Christian Service University to cultivate a desire to contribute meaningfully towards nation building.
Delivering a lecture at the Leadership Conclave programme organised by the Students’ Representative Council at main auditorium of the school on Wednesday, 23rd April 2025, the former Deputy Minister of Finance advised Ghanaian students to contribution their quota strenuously because the destiny of every nation rests on the shoulders of its youths.
He explained that the youth would become resourceful to the nation if they possess all the three key indicators of performance, namely: ability, opportunity, and motivation.
According to him, it is regrettable that most Ghanaians lack the passion, endurance, and commitment to contribute to nation building because they have no intrinsic motivation.
He has, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians to support leadership by being corporative at all times.
In an interview, the newly-appointed Chief Executive of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, bemoaned the diminishing desire for leadership qualities, especially amongst the youths.
According to him, a lot of leaders are deficient in the discharge of their mandate because they accepted the challenge without any proper preparation or planning for it.
He added that such persons are unable to impact lives because they lack vision. He therefore emphasised the need for every Ghana to be patriotic enough to serve diligently.
The President of the Student Representative Council of the school, Richard Owusu, expressed his thankfulness to the resource persons for reigniting a sense of patriotism and diligence in the students.
According to him, the reason for the event was to cause a change of mindset due to the fact that majority of the students are disinterested in assuming leadership roles.
According to him, every student’s priority is academic work; however, extracurricular activities also offer numerous life-changing opportunities to those who engage in them.
