Let’s Build Party Machinery to Win 2028 Election, Not Primaries – Bawumia to NPP Members

Former presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has advised party members to prioritize building a strong party machinery that can win the 2028 election rather than focusing on internal primaries.

Speaking at the launch of the party’s National Thank You Tour at the NPP headquarters in Accra, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of unity in achieving electoral success.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the need for the party to reform its electoral system, particularly the delegates’ system, to allow more people to participate in the electoral process.

He expressed his satisfaction with the Professor Michael Quaye Committee’s report, which has made recommendations to improve the party’s electoral process.

These recommendations have been forwarded to the Constitutional Review Committee for consideration.

The former Vice President stressed that unity is crucial for the party’s success in the 2028 elections.

He cautioned party members against divisions that could undermine their chances of winning.

“What is important is that we have to be united and win 2028. If we are united, we are going to win 2028. If we are not united, we will have a challenge, so unity is very important.”
