Government will not allow Cocoa to suffer under Goldbod – Cocobod CEO

The CEO of Cocobod, Dr. Randy Abbey, embarked on a working visit to a cocoa cooperative group in the Western North Region.

This visit provided an opportunity for him to engage directly with cocoa farmers, understand their concerns, and discuss ways to improve the industry.

During working visit, Dr. Abbey assessed the needs of cocoa farmers in the region, focusing on challenges such as disease management, fertilizer access, and market prices.

He listened to their concerns and ideas, demonstrating his commitment to addressing the issues affecting the industry.

The CEO emphasized the importance of sustainable cocoa production practices, highlighting Cocobod’s initiatives to promote environmentally friendly farming methods.

He encouraged farmers to adopt these practices, which can help improve crop yields, reduce environmental degradation, and enhance the industry’s long-term viability.

He therefore stressed that the government will not allow cocoa to suffer under gold.

Some of the cooperative group’s appeals highlight the need for government intervention to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers.

By providing support, the government can help farmers increase their yields, improve their income, and contribute to the growth of the local economy.

They also seek assistance to address issues such as low producer prices, limited access to fertilizers and pesticides, and inadequate infrastructure.
