Kumasi Mayor Brings Easter Cheers to Prison Inmates

Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi has donated 25 bags of rice to inmates at the Kumasi Central Prison as an Easter gift.
The donation follows his visit to the prison to discuss potential inmate involvement in sanitation efforts with prison leadership, thrilling the action with his kind gesture.
During his previous visit, Hon. Mayor Boadi realized that inmates hadn’t had rice in a while, prompting his decision to donate.
His wife plans to complement the gift with gallons of oil and tins of tomatoes, allowing inmates to enjoy their meal.
Hon. Boadi emphasized that prison is meant for reformation, not punishment, and encouraged affluent individuals to support the government in caring for inmates.
Presenting the bags of rice to Chief Superintendent Kofi Takyi, the second-in-command of Kumasi Prisons, Hon. Ofori-Agyeman Boadi indicated that, his outfit will continue to offer necessary support for the service department.
The mayor also highlighted the need to shift public perception about inmates, noting that many are there due to accidents or misfortunes rather than malicious intent.
This gesture is part of a growing trend of kindness towards inmates in Kumasi, with other organizations also making donations, offering kind support for the inmates.
Chief Superintendent Kofi Takyi receiving the items expressed his profound gratitude to the mayor, adding that the items has come in most crucial times, the service needs most.
He further called on other benevolence agencies to enumerate same, emphasizing the growing inmates in their care.
The Kumasi Central Prison, built during the early 19th century, has undergone renovations to accommodate more inmates. With a growing number of initiatives to support inmates, the prison continues to receive attention from local leaders and organizations.
