Accra-Tudu traders lament over low sales ahead of Easter Festival

Traders at the Accra-Tudu Market in the Greater Accra Region are expressing concerns over low sales during this year’s Easter season, compared to the same period last year.
Traders have attributed the recent decline in sales to the sharp rise in exchange rates, particularly affecting the value of the Ghanaian cedi.
They are urging the government to intervene and stabilize the cedi’s exchange rate to boost business and customer spending power.
This came up when Oyerepa news reporter Bernard K Dadzie visited the market to ascertain how business is faring this Easter.
Easter Mondays over the years has been reserved for relaxation and engaging in outdoor activities such as picnics, carnival and other get together events.
With loud music, celebrants use Monday to round up weekend long activities of Easter celebration. All such activities cannot go without the mention of food and other accompaniments that comes with the celebration.
A visit to the Tudu-Okaishie Market saw minimal activities by shoppers and traders. That notwithstanding, on display were a range of products such as food stuffs, footwear, clothes, fruits and vegetables among others.
Most of the traders complained of general low sales this Easter, with Easter Monday shopping not being any different.
