Maintain Impartiality In Bawku Chieftaincy Conflict: Mamprugu Youth Plea To Mahama

Mamprugu Youth Association have call on the government to remain impartial in the Bawku Chieftaincy conflict and to refrain from any action that could compromise the delicate peace process.

According to them, this is fundamentally a chieftaincy issue, and the ongoing mediation led by Otumfuo Osei tutu ll, must be allowed to proceed with an external interference, any attempt by the state to take sides or act outside the Agreed Framework, risk exacerbating the crisis and eroding trust among all parties.

Speaking at the press conference, Dr. Imoro Issah, Executive member of Mamprugu Youth Association (MAYA) call on police to desist from paying attention to only one party of the conflict, specifically the Kusasis and kowtowing to their every demand.

 

The group alleged that the conduct of the IGP before the Kusasi in Bawku is a grave error in judgment and must step aside to cleanse the image of the service he has so soiled to assure these young officers that their lives matter.

The Association is demanding the immediate resumption of armed escorts on the Bawku-Bolgatanga-Pulmakon and Bawku-Kulungungu hughways to restore the free movement of people and goods and to safeguard livelihoods that are currently under server threat.

Osman Kariyamah, a member of the Mamprugu Youth Association (MAYA), has urged the media to scrutinize their reporting on the Bawku chieftaincy conflict.

According to him, the media should know that Kusasi youth are escalating the conflict with the Mamprusi when the Inspector General of Police visited Bawku.
