Revenue Mobilization: Ashanti regional minister Calls for Balanced Approach

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister,  has entreat officials of Ghana Revenue Authority to use balance approach in mobilization of revenues in the sector.

He made these remarks when he recently received Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and his team on a courtesy call to discuss tax-related matters in the region.

The meeting focused on the Ghana Revenue Authority’s efforts to mobilize revenue for national development, with Dr. Amoakohene assuring the team of the region’s unwavering support.

Dr. Amoakohene emphasized the need for the Ghana Revenue Authority to approach their work with a human face, considering the challenges faced by the business community in the region.

He highlighted the importance of striking a balance between revenue mobilization and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

This approach, he noted, would foster a conducive atmosphere for economic growth and development in the Ashanti Region.

During the meeting, Dr. Amoakohene also brought to the attention of the Commissioner General concerns from traders and business leaders regarding the operations of the National Customs Taskforce in the region.

He appealed for a review and intervention to ensure a more streamlined and fair process that supports, rather than stifles, business growth. This, he said, would help alleviate the challenges faced by businesses and promote a more favorable business environment.

The meeting between Dr. Amoakohene and the Ghana Revenue Authority team underscores the importance of collaboration in promoting regional development.

By working together, the government and revenue authorities can create an environment that supports business growth and revenue mobilization, ultimately contributing to the development of the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole.
