Education Minister Urged to Prioritize Deployment of Educational Resources to Deprived Areas

The Assemblyman for Oyansana Electoral Area, Hon. Abubakari Mohammed, has appealed to the Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, to prioritize the equitable distribution of educational materials, and resources to disadvantaged schools.
Hon. Abubakari Mohammed emphasized the need to support deprived schools, boosting their morale and encouraging students to recognize the importance of education. This, in turn, will help reduce dropout rates and prevent teenage pregnancies and other negative influences.
He made these comments during a Quiz and Debate competition organized for schools in the Oyansana Electoral Area, including Oduntia Presbyterian Basic school, Akwatsiri M/A Basic school, and Kojo Ashong Methodist Basic school in Ga West Municipal.
He further urged the Education Minister and the Ghana Education Service to extend the school feeding program to these schools, citing their pressing needs. He also highlighted the lack of proper infrastructure and learning materials, pleading with the government to allocate funds to enhance learning in these institutions.
Mr. Samuel Amoah, head of department, Basic 6 at Oduntia Presby Basic School, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Abubakari Mohammed for his unwavering support to the school.
Despite the school’s initial lack of basic furniture, Hon. Abubakari Mohammed’s interventions have made a significant difference.
Through his efforts, the school has received tables and chairs for the students, as well as office chairs for the teachers. Additionally, some kindergarten classes have also benefited from his support, witnessing notable development and improvements.
Moreover, Mr. Amoah highlighted that Hon. Abubakari Mohammed has gone above and beyond to ensure the well-being of the students. He has been providing food for over 350 children, many of whom often go without meals.
