Minority in Parliament Accuses Attorney General of Abusing Office

The Minority in Parliament has levied serious accusations against the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, claiming that he has abused his office by ordering raids, arrests, and investigations into former government appointees.

According to the Minority Caucus, the Attorney General’s role is to provide legal advice to investigative agencies and assist the court in dispensing justice, not to conduct investigations himself.

Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Second Deputy Minority Whip, addressed journalists, calling on the Attorney General to immediately halt such actions.

He emphasized that the Attorney General’s current actions undermine his constitutional mandate and set a dangerous precedent.

The Minority Caucus also revealed that an apology has been rendered to Dr. Ernest Addison, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, by the National Security Coordinator, confirming that the raid on his residence was unlawfully conducted.

Ahmed Shaib questioned the legality of the raid, citing the lack of a court-issued warrant and the use of brute force to overpower private security.

The Minority is demanding an immediate end to these practices and a public apology to Dr. Addison. They argue that transparency and adherence to the rule of law are essential in maintaining public trust and ensuring that justice is served.
