Happening Now!: Angry Kumasi Traders, victims of fire outbreak Protest Against Alleged Plans to Rebuild Market

Hundreds of traders who lost their stores in a recent fire outbreak in the Adum area of Kumasi took to the streets on Saturday evening to express their outrage against city authorities.
The protesters, who marched through the principal streets of Kumasi, accused the regional NDC chairman, Nana Akwasi, of planning to take over the site to rebuild stores, allegedly with the intention of vacating the current traders from their businesses.
Chanting slogans and beating drums, the traders warned government and city authorities to reverse their decision, which they described as “diabolic”.
The protesters claimed that the plans would unfairly displace them from their usual businesses and livelihoods.
The traders’ protest brought attention to the ongoing struggles of those affected by the fire outbreak, which destroyed hundreds of stores and left many without a source of income.
The protesters demanded that their concerns be heard and that alternative solutions be found to support those affected by the disaster.
