Maame Samma Peprah has been appointed as the new Registrar of Companies. With extensive experience in corporate law, regulatory compliance, and strategic leadership, she is set to lead efforts to enhance business registration and corporate governance in the country.
As a seasoned legal professional, Peprah has a strong background in corporate advisory, regulatory enforcement, and commercial law.
Her appointment is an indication of the NDC’s government’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and accountability in Ghana’s business regulatory framework.
Education and Legal Training
Maame Samma Peprah’s legal journey began at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where she earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). She proceeded to the Ghana School of Law, where she obtained her Barrister-at-Law (BL) qualification and was subsequently called to the Ghana Bar. Further strengthening her expertise, she pursued a Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Law and Policy (LL.M.) at the University of Dundee, Scotland. In 2024, she was appointed as a Notary Public by the Supreme Court of Ghana, further cementing her status as a distinguished legal professional
Before her appointment as Registrar of Companies, Peprah served as the Legal Manager at Cenpower Generation Ltd., a major player in Ghana’s energy sector. She played a pivotal role in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation while assisting in board-level decision-making. Her expertise extended to drafting and reviewing legal documents, managing regulatory compliance, and liaising with external legal teams.
Previously, she held the position of Senior Associate at LawTrust Company, where she specialized in commercial litigation, contract drafting, and corporate advisory services. She also worked with the Attorney General’s Department in Cape Coast, where she gained invaluable experience in public prosecution and legal advisory services for law enforcement agencies.
Her dedication to legal education has seen her serve as a lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Law Faculty and the Catholic Institute of Business and Technology, shaping the next generation of legal minds.
Expertise and Contributions
With a strong background in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, commercial law, and energy law, Peprah has worked on several high-profile transactions. Notably, she was a member of the legal team that advised on the redevelopment financing syndicate for the Ghana Airport Company and the Ghana Trade Fair redevelopment project. She also played a key role in negotiating technology transfer agreements for Scancom Ghana Limited (MTN Ghana) and was instrumental in the refinancing of the Kpone Independent Power Plant by the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund.
