Court Dismisses Injunction Suit Against Suhum MP, Hon. Frank Bekoe Asiedu

In a significant development, the Koforidua High Court has struck out an injunction suit filed by independent candidate Kwadjo Asante against Hon. Frank Bekoe Asiedu, the Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency.
The court’s decision, delivered on Friday, March 14, 2025, paves the way for Hon. Asiedu Bekoe to continue serving as the MP.
The suit, which sought to prevent Hon. Asiedu Bekoe from being sworn in and holding himself out as the MP for Suhum, was withdrawn by the petitioner after the MP’s lawyer argued that the injunction had become moot.
The lawyer pointed out that Hon. Asiedu Bekoe had already been sworn in as the validly elected MP for Suhum, and the Electoral Commission had taken further steps to gazette the 2024 Parliamentary results for Suhum.
The presiding judge upheld the lawyer’s argument, striking out the injunction suit. This means that Hon. Asiedu Bekoe will remain in office until the substantive case is determined. The next court sitting is scheduled for Monday, March 31, 2025.
Following the ruling, the Suhum NPP Constituency Executives, led by Chairman Frederick Ofosu, have reassured party members to remain calm and not panic.
They have pledged to keep everyone updated on further developments, expressing confidence that victory will ultimately be theirs.
