Youth and Asafo of Gomoa Ekwamkrom Petition Regional House of Chiefs Over Chieftaincy Dispute

A chieftaincy dispute is brewing in Gomoa Ekwamkrom, Gomoa Central District, as the youth and Asafo have petitioned the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs to intervene and restore peace in the community.
At the heart of the dispute is a challenge to the legitimacy of the current chief, Dr. Edmund Ekow Kaitoo II, by one Ebusuapanyi Acquah, who claims to have the right to install a new chief.
However, the youth and Asafo of Gomoa Ekwamkrom are adamant that Dr. Kaitoo II is the rightful chief and will not tolerate any attempts to install a new one.
The Apesemakahen of Gomoa Ekwamkrom, Elex Ekow Botwey, revealed that the Omanhen of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, Obrenpong Yanful Kranpah, had previously ruled on the matter, but the judgment was flawed as it was based on deceitful information provided by Abusuapanyi Acquah.
The youth and Asafo are calling on the Central Regional House of Chiefs to review the case and make a just ruling to prevent any further conflict.
They emphasized that Gomoa Ekwamkrom is a peaceful community that values development and peace over war and conflict.
The petition by the youth and Asafo highlights the need for effective dispute resolution mechanisms in chieftaincy matters. Research has shown that chieftaincy disputes can have far-reaching consequences for communities, including undermining social cohesion and hindering development.
