Poor roads put pregnant women at risk in Kwabenya: Chiefs appeal for Gov’t support during Homowo
The Chiefs and Elders of Kwabenya in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have appealed to the government to provide the community with essential infrastructure to improve living standards.
They made the appeal during the celebration of the 2025 Homowo festival, which marks the end of a period of drumming and noise-making ban.
Nii Tetteh Ofantse Dza-Nyomo II, the Kwabenya-Musuku Mantse, appealed to the President, through the Member of Parliament for the area, to assist in improving the road infrastructure, particularly the stretch from the Ga East junction to the hospital.
He highlighted the challenges faced by pregnant women accessing medical care due to the poor state of the road, which has led to loss of lives and miscarriages.
The traditional leader also called on the government to install streetlights in the area to enhance security and facilitate business activities at night.
Nii Dza-Nyomo II, concluded by seeking divine blessings for the people of Kwabenya and its environs, including both residents and visitors.
Nii Ablade Amissah Mensah, principal member Nii Abbey We family of Odai Ntow, appealed to Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, to support the community in two key areas: road construction and expansion of the local public school, which is currently overcrowded and unable to accommodate all the children in the community.
He urged the youth to make education their top priority, stressing that it is the most crucial factor for success in this age of artificial intelligence and innovation.
