Otumfour Bans All Funerals In Asanteman To Mourn Asantehemaa On 21st August

The Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, has issued a proscription against the performing of funerals and funeral-related activities slated for Thursday, 21st August 2025, across all 64 paramountcies of the Ashanti Kingdom.

The directive which was issued in a communique signed by the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, Ambassador Nana Effah-Appenteng, is expected to pave way for a dignified one-week observation of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who died on Thursday, 7th August 2025.

On Monday, 11th August 2025, the Asantehene announced the passing of the Ashanti Queen to the Asanteman Council in line with tradition and custom.

His Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, on Monday, August 11, 2025, officially informed the Asanteman Council of the demise of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

The One Week Celebration will be observed on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Bogyawe, Manhyia Palace from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.

Manhyia Palace announces for the information of the general public that there will be a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to allow Asantehene and Asanteman observe the One Week Celebration of Asantehemaa.
