Dormaahene Launches Initiative to Combat Illegal Logging

The Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, has announced plans to establish a task force to tackle rampant illegal logging in the Asikasu No. 2 Forest Reserve.

The initiative follows a recent visit to the forest, where the chief witnessed firsthand the extensive destruction caused by illegal logging activities.

The proposed task force will be equipped with modern audio-visual recording devices to enhance monitoring efforts within the forest.

Additionally, security posts will be set up at the forest’s entrance and exit points to ensure continuous surveillance. The task force aims to bring an end to the ongoing illegal logging activities that have been plaguing the forest.

Osagyefo Dr. Agyemang Badu emphasized the importance of integrity and accountability among task force members.

He cautioned prospective members against succumbing to financial temptations that could compromise their duties.

The chief stressed that safeguarding the forest is crucial for the future benefit of the country and the Dormaa community.

The Dormaahene warned that anyone involved in illegal logging, regardless of their status or influence, would face the full force of the law if caught.

He urged security personnel and task force members to perform their duties with diligence and without fear or intimidation.

The establishment of the task force is expected to help protect the Asikasu No. 2 Forest Reserve and preserve the natural resources of the Dormaa community.
