Rapport Services has launched the much-anticipated Gold Statement to champion the local transmuting of gold into jewelleries for exports instead of the vain exportation of raw gold.
The Gold statement aims at introducing news channel of adding value to raw Gold extracts before exportation.
The launching brought together diverse stakeholders on the value chain including gold smith and renowned gold Jewells dealers.
The Executive Director of Rapport Services Mrs. Judy Nakuor Crayem, Speaking in an interview at the event which was hosted at the Lancaster Kumasi City Hotel on Tuesday, 8th August 2025, she noted that Ghana can only derive substantial benefits from its gold if it revives the goldsmith industry to produce authentic handmade jewellery and gemstones.
According to her, the call for value addition to gold resonates with President John Mahama’s proposed creation of a gold village.
Describing the initiative as highly commendable, she however expressed scepticism about its fulfilment because previous governments have failed to honour similar promises.
Speaking on behalf of the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Manhene of Essumeja, Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama bemoaned the fact that goldsmithing and traditional craftsmanship is gradually became antiquated due to the unfair competition it faces from modern production techniques.
He proposed that instead of abandoning traditional goldsmithing, stakeholders must employ AI technology to create more appealing designs.
He has therefore called on all Ghanaians to take pride in purchasing more gold jewelries.
