Pupils and teachers of Awutu Otopiase Basic school in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region have seen a sign of relief after Pobee foundation, non governmental organization commissioned merchandise borehole for the school after years without water.
Awutu Otopiase basic school which the only school in the area with over 1,000 students population are facing water challenge for over 10yrs now which has forced students and teachers to walk about 3kilometers before getting access to water.
Speaking at the commission of the borehole, DCE for Awutu Senya West Kalala Nyamekye Hagah said the district is committed to providing portable water for its citizens
Kalaa Nyamekye also called on other philanthropist to come to come to the district and support development.
Meanwhile, the founder of Pobee Foundation, Emmanuel Pobee, said he was touched after the pupils and the teachers shared their frustration with him.
He also urged the teachers and the pupil to take good care of the project to last long for them.
Furthermore, omankrado of Awutu Otopiase number 2, Nana Kofi Bosompem II, also cautioned the residents of Awutu Otopiase to stay away from the water since is mainly for the school but not for the community.
He said nananom has constructed one for the community and they should use that one and stay away from the one mainly for the school.
