The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has vowed to boycott the re-run election at Ablekuma North constituency, citing concerns over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) inconsistency.
According to the party, their parliamentary candidate, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, has already won the election based on their collation.
“We will not participate in any election, we have won the election outright,” the party declared. The NPP questioned the EC’s sudden change in stance, from initially stating that only 3 polling stations were left to now claiming 19 stations are outstanding.
Speaking at a press conference, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong announced that the party has approached the court to halt the EC’s plans for a re-run election.
“We are asking the EC to follow the court’s direction, complete the collation, and declare our candidate as the winner,” Frimpong stated.
The NPP’s stance has sparked tension ahead of the re-run election, with the party remaining resolute in its decision. The situation is being closely watched, with many awaiting the court’s decision on the matter.
