On June 8, 2025, Bishop Ahenkora Marfo, Head Pastor of International Charismatic Church, Narrow Gate Cathedral, delivered a stirring sermon titled “A Call to Be Holy” to the congregation in Banana Inn, Greater Accra Region, Ghana.
The sermon, based on 2 Corinthians 6, emphasized the importance of believers living holy lives, separate from the world.
Bishop Ahenkora stressed that being a Christian is an invitation to pursue holiness, citing 1 Peter 1:15, which states, “God Who called the believers is Holy, so must the believers be Holy.”
He further emphasized that God’s position is that His servants must be holy, and this call is to live a godly life.
“You have been chosen to become like Jesus,” Bishop Ahenkora said, encouraging believers to become Christ-like in character and holiness.
He referenced Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”
The bishop emphasized that the call to holiness requires intentional effort, citing 2 Corinthians 7:1, “Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”
He reminded Christians to cleanse themselves from every filth, saying, “We can be spiritually filthy, hence the need to purify ourselves, because your scent can drive people from Christ.”
Bishop Ahenkora noted that walking in holiness is a portrait of wisdom in Christianity, hence the need to walk circumspectly. He encouraged believers to live lives that reflect their union with God.
In conclusion, Bishop Ahenkora referenced 1 Peter 1:13, “Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.”
He reminded believers to set their focus on Christ, now that they are united with God, and to live lives that honor Him.
