IEIEAG Urges Govt to Cancel SML Contract

The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG) has called on the government to immediately terminate the contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) for monitoring fuel volumes.
The IEAG believes the contract is redundant, as the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) already performs this task.
Executive Secretary Samson Asaki Awingobit alleged that SML receives $1.43 million monthly despite lacking expertise in revenue assurance, and that the contract was awarded without a competitive process.
He urged the government to prioritize Ghanaians’ interests and terminate the contract to save funds for vital projects.
The IEAG’s call highlights concerns about government spending and transparency in public procurement. The association demands accountability and prudent financial management, emphasizing the need for the government to take immediate action.AG Urges Govt to Cancel SML Contract
