The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ga Central, Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, has emphasized the importance of sanitation in the municipality and announced plans to improve waste management and cleanliness in various areas, including schools, markets, hospitals, and churches.
He also revealed plans to deploy tricycles to zonal councils to collect rubbish and clean highways.
Speaking at the commissions of Urine Unit for Anyaa Policy station by De-Sus Company Ltd he expressed gratitude to the Company for donating a washroom facility to the Ayaa Police Station. The MCE described the gesture as “welcome” and commended the company for its corporate social responsibility initiative.
Hon. Allotey urged the company to replicate the same gesture to other police stations within the municipality, specifically mentioning the Sowutuom Police Station. He also called on the police station to maintain the facility in good shape, ensuring that it remains a source of pride for the community.
Director of De-Sus Company Limited, led by Director Stephen Egulogbe, has demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by commissioning a urine unit for the Ayaa Police Station in the Ga Central Municipal Assembly. The project, valued at approximately 19,000 Ghanaian Cedi, aims to improve sanitation facilities for police officers and visitors.
According to Egulogbe, the company recognized the need for improved sanitation facilities at the police station and decided to take action. “We’ve deemed it wise to come and construct this very washroom for them,” he stated. This initiative is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility agenda, which focuses on supporting the community and promoting a clean environment.
The company has previously undertaken similar projects, showcasing its dedication to giving back to the community. Egulogbe expressed the company’s willingness to collaborate with the police station, citing previous successful collaborations with groups like the bathtub boys and Ganapolis.
ACP Kofi Sarpong, Divisional Commander for Odorkor division expressed gratitude to De-Sus Company Limited for donating a washroom facility to the Ayaa Police Station. “It will go a long way to help us,” he said, emphasizing the importance of the facility for both police officers and clients.
ACP Sarpong noted that the administration is working to provide sanitary facilities for all police stations across the country, and this donation is a significant step in that direction. He revealed plans to implement a system to maintain the facility, where users will book the key and have the facility inspected after use.
“We are going to have a register. You come, you book for the key, and then when you are done, you return. But there will be someone who, when you really use the facility, will come and inspect the situation before you’ll be allowed to go,” ACP Sarpong explained.
He assured that the police department will maintain the facility and keep it in good condition, saying, “We can assure you that we will not let you down. We’ll keep it as you’ve come to see.”
