New Voter Forum Calls for Cancellation of Ghana Link Network Services Contract

The New Voter Forum, a group sympathetic to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is urging the government to cancel its contract with Ghana Link Network Services Limited.

According to Conqueror Mawudzo Korto, the group’s convenor, the contractual agreement between the Ministry of Trade and Ghana Link Network Services Limited requires an independent audit.

Korto alleges that the ICUMS platform, part of the contract, has proven unreliable and ineffective. This, he claims, has significantly weakened Ghana’s position as a logistics hub in West Africa.

“The capture of Ghana’s trade system equates to the hijacking of the nation’s future,” Korto warned, emphasizing the need for immediate action.

The New Voter Forum is calling on civil society organizations, industry leaders, the media, and parliament to act and prevent further losses. This development comes amid concerns over governance and contract management in Ghana’s public sector.

“It is worth to note that high-ranking political figures have facilitated this scheme with secrecy inconsistent with democratic governance. Unapproved fees and charges have been imposed without parliamentary approval.”

The New Voter Forum alleged that institutions that would normally raise concerns have been silenced, and trade associations have been infiltrated by system operatives seeking to suppress opposition.
