GOMOA EAST: NEW NADMO DIRECTOR PLEDGES CONSTRUCTION OF DRAINAGES TO TACKLE FLOOD 

The newly appointed District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for Gomoa East of the Central Region, Mr. HASSAN HAMIDU, has pledged to construct more drainage system to tackle flood situation in the district, appealing to the government to provide human resources and logistics to tackle the perennial flooding.

Speaking in an interview during the handover ceremony at the Gomoa East Assembly in Potsin, Mr. HASSAN HAMIDU noted that the district’s drainage system is inadequate, leading to frequent flooding during the rainy season.

“The district’s drainage system is in a deplorable state, and this has resulted in flood situations and resources to tackle this challenge.”  He said.

The New Director also appealed to the governments to construct new drainages and repair existing ones to prevent flooding in the district.

“We need the government to prioritize the construction of new drainages and repair existing ones to prevent flooding in the district,” Director said. “This will go a long way to reduce the risk of flooding and its attendant consequences.”

The outgoing Director, Mr. Hackman Oko, handed over the reins to Hassan Hamidu during the ceremony, which was attended by officials from the Gomoa East District Assembly and other stakeholders.

Mr. Hackman welcomed the new Director and promises work closely with him for the betterment of Gomoa East.
