Abandoned Bridge Brings Anomabo to a Standstill

Residents of Anomabo in Ghana’s Ashanti Region are calling for urgent action to address the deplorable state of a crucial bridge that connects their community to parts of the Eastern Region.
The bridge, initiated in 2016 by the NDC government, has remained incomplete since the change in administration, severely disrupting daily life.
Farmers are struggling to transport their produce, and commuters are facing increased risks. To mitigate the situation, residents have constructed a makeshift wooden bridge, but it frequently gets washed away by floodwaters during heavy rainfall. When this happens, residents are forced to rely on canoes, which has proven to be perilous.
A recent incident where a canoe carrying a dead body capsized has left the community traumatized. Local authorities were forced to perform rituals to retrieve the body, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Residents of neighboring Badwe are facing similar challenges. Both communities are urging the government and their Member of Parliament, Hon. Godwin Animli Dorgbazi-Dorani, to intervene.
In response, Hon. Dorgbazi-Dorani has assured residents that he is working closely with the Roads Minister and the Ashanti Regional Minister to find a solution.
After visiting the affected areas, he expressed his commitment to resolving the issue. The communities are hopeful that their pleas will be heard, and the bridge will be completed soon.
