A tragic accident has occurred at Amanase, a community near Suhum on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, resulting in the deaths of 11 people.
The accident, which happened at 5:00 am, involved a fuel tanker (GR 1300-16) and a Sprinter (GW 6510-23).
According to eyewitnesses, the fuel tanker driver was allegedly sleeping and veered off its lane, colliding with the Sprinter traveling in the opposite direction.
ADO1 Akonnor Opare Ohene Daniel, Suhum Municipal PRO at the Ghana National Fire Service Station, confirmed the death toll and reported that several others sustained injuries.
The injured have been rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.
The incident highlights the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution, especially on major highways.
