Central Regional Minister Charges New DCEs to Collaborate with Traditional Leaders

The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has emphasized the importance of building strong relationships between District Chief Executives (DCEs) and traditional authorities in their districts to drive development.
During his visit to oversee the Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) confirmation process, Minister Eduamoah highlighted that a DCE’s success heavily relies on the support and collaboration of local chiefs.
The Minister specifically pointed out the Assin South District as an example of an area that has lacked development, despite having a Member of Parliament who served as Deputy Minister of Education under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has been MP for the constituency for over eight years, yet the area still struggles with inadequate educational infrastructure, including pupils studying under trees due to insufficient classrooms and teachers.
Minister Eduamoah assured the chiefs, elders, and residents of Assin South that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, under President John Dramani Mahama, would prioritize the development of the constituency.
The newly confirmed DCE for Assin South, Hon. Jonathan Birenkorang, has also pledged to work closely with traditional leaders to bring meaningful progress to the district.
Hon. Birenkorang promised to complete all unfinished projects started by previous administrations as he plan to introduce NDC policies in the Assin South District to create jobs for youths, as well as pledging his committed to working closely with traditional leaders in decision-making processes.
The Assin South District Chief Executive received 100% endorsement from all assembly members in the district, while Sylvester Amakye Nyarkoh also received 100% confirmation in the Assin North Constituency.
Okofo Kodwo Bi Benti II, Chief of Assin Darman, on behalf of the chiefs in the Assin South District, appealed to the DCE to prioritize development in the area and make effective use of the MP’s common funds. The chief also urged Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour to seek development for the constituency.
