Kumasi Traditional Council, Government, join hands to support Adum fire victims

Kumasi Traditional Council has pledged to collaborate with the government to support victims of the recent devastating fire incident at Adum.
The fire, which occurred on Friday, March 21, 2025, destroyed over 1000 shops, with items worth millions of Ghana Cedis lost.
A representatives from the Traditional Council, led by Akyeamfuo Asafo Boakye Agyemang, Otumfuo Akwamuhene, visited the affected area to assess the damage and determine the best way to assist in its redevelopment.
During the visit, Agyemang expressed sympathy for the victims and assured them of the Council’s commitment to providing support.
Baffour Osei Kwame, Otumfuo Kantankrakyi, emphasized the need for Kumasi to reassess its development strategies, citing congestion and accessibility issues in the Metropolis.
He noted that the Kumasi Traditional Council will support the Ashanti Regional Minister in carrying out a rezoning exercise, particularly in the affected area of the fire incident at Adum.
This development comes after the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, briefed the Manhyia Traditional Council on the Adum PZ fire.
The Minister has also pledged support for the victims, and a relief package of GHC 100,000 has been donated to support those affected.
The Kumasi Traditional Council’s pledge to support the victims is a welcome development, as the community comes together to rebuild and recover from the devastating fire.
