Youth Empowerment: 10,000 Youth to Benefit from Adwumawura Program

The Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo Esq, has inaugurated a technical working committee to oversee the implementation of the Adwumawura and National Apprenticeship Programmes to empower 10,000 young Ghanaians every year aged 18 to 35 by supporting them growing their businesses.
The programme will focus on small-scale manufacturing, agribusiness, AI, and fintech, and the committee has been tasked with creating strategies to support these start-ups.
These initiatives aim to tackle youth unemployment by providing young people with the skills and resources needed for self-employment.
Additionally, the National Apprenticeship Programme will offer free technical and vocational training to equip young people with practical skills. Successful apprentices will receive certification, start-up capital, and necessary equipment to establish their businesses.
The committee is expected to submit detailed reports on both programmes within two weeks, ahead of their respective national launches on April 23 and April 30, 2025. A dedicated secretariat will be established at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment to oversee the coordination of both programmes.
Hon. George Opare Addo, emphasized the government’s commitment to providing real opportunities for the youth and called on all stakeholders to collaborate in expanding employment opportunities and building a stronger economy.
