Akyem Aduasa Residents Protest Delayed Road Construction

Residents of Akyem Aduasa in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region are up in arms over the delayed construction of the Swedru Apoli road, which began years ago.

The community is frustrated with the slow pace of construction, which has blocked waterways, causing flooding in homes during rainfall.

According to the residents, the contractor is not only delaying the project but also blocking rainwater passageways and destroying properties.

The dusty road they said, “is also causing health issues, further exacerbating the community’s woes” .

The Chief of the area, Osaberima Abrokwa Gyanpem IV, Nana, has appealed to the contractor to expedite the work to alleviate the challenges faced by the community.

This is not the first time the community has expressed dissatisfaction with the road network. Previously, residents had complained about the poor road conditions, which were affecting the transportation of cocoa beans and other farm produce.

The rehabilitation of feeder roads in the area has received some support, with Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, an indigene of Akyem Swedru, contributing to the rehabilitation of the deplorable feeder roads linking Akyem Apoli with Ningo and Beposo.

However, the delayed construction of the Swedru Apoli road remains a major concern for the community.
