The International Prison Chaplains Association (IPCA) has taken its prison prevention program to the Osu Presbyterian Secondary School, educating students on the importance of making informed choices to avoid imprisonment.
The program, aimed at empowering students with the knowledge to steer clear of prison, focused on the consequences of violent behavior, divorce, and other practices that can lead to jail time.
Rev. Steve Mensah, founder of IPCA, emphasized the need for students to be mindful of their actions, citing recent incidents of student violence and stabbing. He urged students to avoid conflicts and make positive choices to ensure a brighter future.
Dr. Angela Tina Mensah, a former national director of secondary education, also cautioned students against participating in demonstrations, following friends into trouble, or engaging in harmful behaviors like rape. Instead, she encouraged them to focus on planning for their future and contributing to the country’s development.
The IPCA’s prison prevention program is part of its nationwide initiative to educate students on the dangers of imprisonment and the importance of making informed choices.
By empowering students with the knowledge to avoid prison, the IPCA hopes to reduce the number of young people entering the prison system and promote a safer, more responsible society.
