International Womens Day: Mastercard Foundation and Agri-Impact Limited Launch Ambitious Program to Empower Ghanaian Youth in Agric Business

A groundbreaking program aimed at empowering Ghanaian youth, women, and people with disabilities in agric business has been launched by Agri-Impact Limited in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

Dubbed “Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY)”, the program seeks to create 326,000 dignified and fulfilling jobs for youth, with 70% of these opportunities reserved for women and persons with disabilities.

The HAPPY program will be implemented by eight partner organizations, including NewAge Agric Solutions, Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Ministry of Food and Agriculture, TecnoServe, Catholic Relief Services, and Jobberman.

Speaking at the International Women’s Day Celebration, Mrs. Juliana Asante Dartey, Deputy CEO of Agri-Impact Limited, encouraged women, especially the youth, to seize the opportunity to harness their potentials.

The program will focus on four key value chains: rice, soybean, tomato, and poultry. By investing in these areas, Agri-Impact Limited and the Mastercard Foundation aim to improve livelihoods and alleviate poverty among disadvantaged communities.

Beneficiaries of the program have already begun to express their gratitude, citing the positive impact it has had on their lives. The program’s success is expected to contribute significantly to Ghana’s agricultural sector, with the potential to reduce poverty and unemployment among youth.
