Bosome Freho MP Criticizes President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address

Honorable Nana Kwame Asafo Adjei Ayeh, Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho, has expressed his disappointment with President John Dramani Mahama’s recent State of the Nation Address (SONA). Ayeh contends that the address failed to meet the requirements of Article 67 of the 1992 constitution, instead resembling a “State of the Party’s Manifesto”.¹

During the parliamentary debate, Ayeh accused President Mahama of deceiving Ghanaian youth during his first term in office. He cited initiatives like tree planting, beads making, and film making, which he believes wasted the time of young people without providing any tangible benefits.

Ayeh also described the SONA as “Dada Noaa”, implying that it offered no hope to Ghanaians. Furthermore, he disputed President Mahama’s claims of resolving the intermittent power supply issue, commonly referred to as “Dunsor”. Ayeh viewed this claim as blatant deception, emphasizing that President Mahama has no excuse for failure, given his previous experience in power.

This criticism comes amidst President Mahama’s return to power after winning the 2024 presidential election.² As the opposition party, the NPP, navigates its internal dynamics, Ayeh’s comments reflect the ongoing debate about the government’s performance and its impact on the lives of Ghanaians.
